Sweet, quirky, and stirring…
Those are the words that I’d use to describe Echoes. The story took place at the turn of the twenty-first century, and I loved the little journey back into time with the description of the main character learning about the internet and email. It brought fun little memories of my own.
Lauren is such an easy to like character. She has some crazy things that happen to her that I can relate to, like a hair catastrophe at a salon. Been there, done that! I enjoy when authors put a little bit of real life quirkiness into stories; readers can relate to that stuff! “Wren”, dubbed that nickname by her brother, has recently come out of a stagnant relationship. When her brother helps her sign up for email and introduces her to online chatting, she is at first hesitant. Her brother talks to a person named K.C. online and saves his email address to “Wren’s” address list. When Lauren accidentally emails K.C. instead of her brother, she finds herself in an email exchange.
If you recall the movie “You’ve Got Mail”, this is a similar type of story. Robin does a fantastic job of adding realistic and individual characteristics to the characters. The storyline is smooth and easy to follow. What I truly enjoyed most of all is the friendship between Lauren and K.C. that developed. It was so sweet and just felt so REAL!
This is a book that you’ll want to keep. I personally will be investing in all of the other parts of the series that I don’t have.
